With three from Fullkrug, Borussia Dortmund beats Bochum and enters the German G4

Borussia Dortmund beat Bochum 3-1 in the 19th round of the German Championship and entered the league’s G4. The match was held this Sunday, at Signal Iduna Park. The goals of the game were scored by Niclas Fullkrug, three times, for the home team and Nico Schlotterbeck, against his own goal, for the visitors.

With the victory, Borussia reached 36 points, moved up to fourth place in the Bundesliga and is in the Champions League qualifying zone. RB Leipzig occupies fifth place, with 33 points, and is the main opponent in the fight for a place in the continental tournament. Stuttgart is another club participating in the dispute, with 37 points they are in third.

Bochum is at the bottom of the table, with 20 points and occupies 14th place. Despite this, they have a large advantage over Cologne, which occupies the relegation qualifying zone, with just 12 points.

For the 20th round, Dortmund will face Heidenheim, next Friday, at 4:30 pm (Brasília time), away from home, at the Voith-Arena. While Bochum hosts Augsburg, on Saturday, at 11:30 am, at the Vonovia Ruhrstadion.

The match started with Borussia pressing and two minutes into the first half the referee awarded a penalty for the home team. Defender Ivan Ordets made a wrong cut and the ball fell to Malen in front of the goal, he advanced and the goalkeeper made the foul. Fullkrug converted and opened the scoring.

Dortmund kept the pressure on and created several chances. However, in the 43rd minute of the first half, Patric Osterhage crossed and Nico Schlotterbeck touched his own goal, tying the match for Bochum.

In the final stage, Borussia remained on the attack and in the 27th minute scored the second goal. Fullkrug received a cross from midfielder Marcel Sabitzer and headed the ball into the net once again.

In the 45th minute of the second half, another penalty for Borussia. Jamie Bynoe-Gittens received the ball in the box, cut in and was fouled by Cristian Gamboa. Fullkrug didn’t waste anything and scored his third and last goal of the match.

In the other German Championship game played this Sunday, Union Berlin beat Darmstadt 98 1-0 and increased the distance from the relegation zone. The goal of the game held at the An der Alten Forsterei Stadium was scored by striker Benedict Hollerbach.

Union, therefore, occupies 15th place in the German Championship with 17 points, five ahead of Cologne. Darmstadt 98 is in last place with 11 points.
