The situation is getting worse for the people in the Gaza Strip. Without fuel, aid organizations can no longer provide for the refugees. Israel blames Hamas for stealing diesel and gasoline.

Two and a half weeks after the start of the war between Israel and the Islamist Hamas in Gaza, the humanitarian situation in the coastal strip is becoming increasingly dramatic. Cairo said on Wednesday that more than 70 trucks carrying relief supplies had now reached the besieged area via the Egyptian border crossing. The fourth convoy so far with food, drinking water and medicine arrived in the south of the Gaza Strip during the night. However, according to the United Nations, in order to supply the almost 2.3 million people, many of whom are in urgent need of emergency aid, loads of 100 trucks are necessary every day.

The situation is getting worse, especially for the hundreds of thousands of people who are fleeing the north of the Gaza Strip. According to UNRWA, almost 600,000 of them have found refuge in the facilities of the UN relief agency for Palestine refugees. This means that the capacities have been exceeded four times. Many would have to sleep on the streets. UNRWA also warned on Wednesday that it may have to stop supporting the population completely as early as Thursday night. Without new supplies of fuel, activities could not be sustained, it said, and even fuel for UNRWA vehicles was running out.
