Woman Found Dead in Slovakia After Running Away from Bear in Low Tatras Region: Tragic Incident Raises Concerns about Bear Attacks

Bratislava: A young woman who ran away from a bear was found dead in Slovakia. The body of a 31-year-old Belarusian woman was found in the forest on Friday afternoon when she went for a walk with her friend. The incident took place in the Low Tatras mountain region.

It is a region full of steep hills and dense forest. While walking in the area, a brown bear jumped in front and tried to attack the young woman and her friend. The frightened young woman and her friend tried to run away, but both of them ran in two directions.

The bear ran after the young woman. When the young woman went missing, her friend approached the Slovak Mountain Rescue Service. During the search conducted by them, the dead body of the young woman was found in the forest in the evening. He tried to shoot the bear that was nearby, but it ran away and hid. At the same time, it has not been confirmed whether the woman’s death was caused by a bear attack or the result of a fall.

Brown beers are common in Eastern and North-Eastern Europe. They are mostly found in the Carpathian Mountains, which span Romania, Slovakia, Poland, and Ukraine. It is estimated that there are approximately 1,275 brown bears in Slovakia. Figures indicate that bear attacks have been on the rise here in the recent past.
