Woman hospitalized after consuming contaminated coffee at the airport

A 21-year-old woman was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) after suffering a severe allergic reaction when drinking a coffee contaminated with insects in it airport Palm, Spain.

The contaminated coffee was sold at the Son Sant Joan airport. Due to the seriousness of the situation, the young woman’s family has decided to file a complaint with the National Police, so that the person responsible is held accountable for the damage to the woman’s health. .

The young woman drank the contaminated coffee on Monday around ten thirty in the morning, when she bought a coffee from a vending machine at the airport. According to witnesses, when she drank the caféhe noticed a strange taste and when he looked in the glass, he discovered several insects. A few minutes later, she went into anaphylactic shock, experiencing facial swelling and breathing difficulties.

She immediately received emergency medical care at the airport, where she was administered adrenaline and other medications to stabilize her. Subsequently, she was transferred to a clinic in Palma, where she remained in the ICU for 36 hours.

## Complaint and Risk to Public Health

The young woman’s family, together with lawyer Antonio Martínez Quereda, filed a complaint alleging a possible crime against public health and reckless injuries due to the presence of insects in the coffee vending machine and poor maintenance of the airport facilities.

The complaint filed is with the objective of raising awareness of the risk of consuming contaminated coffee, in addition to demanding that the airport company improve maintenance and hygiene standards in service areas. After the incident, the machine was closed.
