Smriti Mandana, the action starter of the Indian women’s cricket team, was hit in the head by a bouncer while playing against South Africa. The Women’s World Cup series is scheduled to take place in New Zealand from March 4 to April 3. The teams participating in this series are currently playing a training match.
In that category India and South Africa played in a training match. It was in that game that a bouncer saw Mandana’s head. The question then arose as to whether he would play for India in the World Cup series.
The doctors who examined him confirmed that there was no harm to Mandana. So he is determined to play for the team in the World Cup series. It is doubtful he will play in the next practice match though. The Indian team is scheduled to play its first league match against Pakistan on March 6.
It is noteworthy that India had advanced to the final of the last 2017 World Cup series. India have won this training match.
