Entertainment Figures Rally Support Amidst Investment Scandal, Reflect on Risks of Lending

A growing number of personalities in the Thai entertainment industry are voicing support for those impacted by a recent investment controversy, while also sharing cautionary tales about the perils of financial entanglement with friends.

A wave of support is rippling through Thailand’s entertainment scene as figures like Woonsen Wiritthipa Phakdeeprasong and Dai Diana publicly repost messages of solidarity with individuals affected by a high-profile investment scheme. The situation centers around allegations that an unnamed celebrity, referred to as “N,” convinced another individual, “B,” to invest a substantial sum – reportedly eight figures – which was subsequently lost.

Recent reports indicate that Dai Diana and Woonsen were present at an event, The EndoliftX, where questions arose regarding their connection to the unfolding drama. When pressed about their relationship with “B” and the alleged investment with “N,” Dai Diana offered a measured response. “To be honest, everyone knows that I’m not a person who has many friends. But I know everyone,” she stated, acknowledging a broad network of acquaintances.

Regarding the specifics of the investment, Dai Diana emphasized the importance of allowing “B” to speak for himself. “Let’s just say it’s better to let the person speak for himself. Because it’s not our business. We shouldn’t mess with him,” she explained. However, she clarified that her recent social media activity was motivated by a desire to support her friends. “We actually just met the night before Awl posted. So I want to help encourage my friends to say, Hey, we’re on your side.”

Dai Diana confirmed she had not directly inquired about the details of the situation with “B.” “I didn’t ask,” she said, adding that while she wasn’t deeply informed, she had been privy to conversations surrounding the matter. “Honestly, I hardly know anything. If you can hear anything, they are talking. But we sat and talked with Mr. Hugo (Chulachak Chakkraphong), and the girls talked to each other. We just talked and updated with Mr. Lek more about his sufferings.”

The conversation also turned to Woonsen Wiritthipa, with Dai Diana offering insight into his character. “Actually, Woon and I have known each other since the time he was a VJ. During that time, we often worked together. Awan is a lovely person and is very sincere with her friends.” She noted that Woonsen had expressed feeling unfairly targeted by the initial reports. “He said he had been working to save money for a long time. When he encountered this He felt it was unfair to him.”

Dai Diana also shared a personal reflection on the dangers of lending money to friends, revealing a history of financial losses. “I have to admit that the first day the news came out… it hurt until I got used to it,” she confessed. She recounted a pattern of requests for loans, often accompanied by compelling personal stories. “Every time people come to ask to borrow money, there’s always a reason. Parents are sick, children need tuition. It’s a classic story that I’ve gotten used to hearing.”

She revealed that she has been burned in the past, losing as much as “7 digits” to friends who were unable to repay. “That is, lending money to a friend means taking this money and letting him officially cut ties with us. Whenever in a relationship there is money involved. Friendship will disappear,” she stated firmly. She now avoids lending altogether, preferring to offer gifts instead. “If I see you really struggling. I’ll give it to you right away.”

Addressing the broader implications of the scandal, Dai Diana acknowledged the public’s fascination with the unfolding events. “Netizens like to care. But whenever it’s about other people it’s always fun. But if one day it becomes something people talk about us, it won’t be fun and we won’t be able to smile.” She expressed hope that justice will be served but also acknowledged the emotional complexities of the situation. “Sometimes the matter of feelings is difficult. So let’s wait and see. And then everything will reveal itself.” Ultimately, she voiced support for those directly affected, stating, “Therefore, I’m rooting for the people in the news who are going through something they didn’t expect before.”
