World Car Awards 2026: Finalists Revealed in Global Automotive Contest

The World Car Awards today announced the 10 finalists vying for the coveted “world Car of the Year” title, alongside contenders in five additional categories. The awards program,which began with a extensive list of participants last September,will now enter its second round of voting. Three finalists from each category will be revealed on march 3, with the ultimate winners announced at the New York Auto Show in April. A unique aspect of the competition is that any vehicle eligible for a category can also compete for the “World car Design of the Year” award, judged by a panel of automotive design experts.
“The competition this year was exceptionally strong, reflecting the industry’s significant growth in 100% electric vehicles,” one analyst noted, highlighting the industry’s ongoing transition. the growing influence of Chinese brands is also apparent,as they expand their presence in global markets.The competition also showcases contributions from European,Asian,and North American manufacturers,reinforcing the awards’ global scope.The evaluation process considers design, innovation, value, and overall appeal in key automotive markets including China, Europe, India, Japan, Korea, Latin America, and the USA.
