Perth, Australia – February 8, 2026 – A challenging weekend at HBF Park saw the Pumas 7s secure a fifth-place finish at the Perth Sevens, the fourth stage of the World Circuit 2025-2026. Despite a spirited effort, the team remains sixth in the overall standings, facing tough competition from the top-ranked nations.

Early Losses, Resilient Response

Argentina’s campaign began with a series of defeats in Group A. They fell to Fiji 26-10, South Africa 19-12, and Spain 26-19. Undeterred, the albiceleste battled through the loser’s bracket, demonstrating resilience with a convincing 47-12 victory over France and a hard-fought 24-19 win against Spain.

What is the current standing of the Pumas 7s in the World Sevens Circuit? Currently, the Pumas 7s have accumulated 44 points overall, trailing significantly behind leaders Fiji, who boast 70 points after reaching the Perth final. South Africa holds second place with 66 points, followed closely by New Zealand with 62. France and Australia are tied for fourth with 54 points each.

These will include the top four teams from SVNS 2, the second division of the World Tour, bringing the total number of participants to 12. The championship will unfold in Hong Kong, Valladolid (Spain), and Bordeaux (France), culminating in the crowning of the season champion.
