Chengdu: The Indian men’s team is out of the World Team Table Tennis Championship. In the pre-quarterfinal match, the Indian team lost against the Chinese team. With that, the Indian team is out of the series.

A total of 36 countries are participating in this series. The series is set in Chengdu, China. It includes 32 men’s teams and 28 women’s teams. The series is being played as a group stage and knock-out.

The Indian team was placed in Group 2. India progressed to the next round of Round of 16 with 3 wins and 1 loss. It was in that round that India faced China.

The Chinese team won this round 3-0 and advanced to the next round. Harmeet Desai, G. Sathyan and Manush Shah all lost their singles matches in succession.

The Chinese team has been the champion since 2004 in the men’s category in this biennial tournament. The team has continued that dominance in the current series as well.
