A massive 26-story apartment building has been built in the city of Ezhou in central China’s Hubei province, housing the world’s largest pig farm. 6 lakh 50 thousand pigs are reared at the same time.
30,000 automated feeding centers have been set up in this building. The building is equipped with state-of-the-art machines to keep the heat level constant and clean the air to maintain the health of the pigs.
It also has facilities for slaughtering 10 lakh pigs per year using electric machines and extracting pork meat. There are also plans to generate natural gas from pig waste. But experts warn that mega-farms created in such apartment buildings are prone to spread of diseases.
