World’s longest public strike ends: Schools open in Uganda

Kampala: The world’s longest-running general strike in Uganda has been completed, with schools reopening on Monday and students being called to school.

Traffic was light at this time of night in many areas as schools reopened after many months. I was able to see scenes of school children walking on the roads in urban areas including Kampala.

Schools in Uganda have not been open for about two years due to the Corona general freeze.

It is seen as the longest public shutdown in the world. That means schools have not been open in Uganda for the past 83 weeks. This affected the education of about several lakh students.
