Worship of the President at Madurai Meenakshi Temple

President Draupadi Murmu paid darshan of Swami at Meenakshi Sundareswarar temple in Madurai on Saturday.

President Draupadi Murmu arrived at Madurai Airport at 11.40 am on Saturday in a private flight from Delhi. Later, he left there by car and reached Madurai Meenakshi Sundareswarar Koil Keezach Chitrai Road at 12 noon. There, he rested for a couple of minutes in the rest room set up near the Amman Sannidhi entrance, and reached Madurai Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple at 12.05 pm.

On behalf of the temple administration, he was welcomed with complete Kumbha honors by playing mela talas and Vedic chants.

Subsequently, he worshiped at Meenakshiyamman Sannidhi and Sundareswarar Sannidhi. He visited some parts of the temple and Potamarai pond.

At that time, Tourism Development Department, Hindu Religious Charitable Department Principal Secretary B. Chandramohan, Temple Thakkar Karamuthu. Kannan explained the spiritual and architectural features of the temple.

Following this, President Draupadi Murmu took a photograph with his daughter Idishi Murmu standing on the banks of the temple Potamarai pond. Later, Madurai Meenakshiamman statue was presented to him on behalf of the temple and books were presented to him on behalf of the tourism department. The President signed the attendance register of the temple visitors and paid the donation in the temple bill.

He stayed in the temple for about 45 minutes, left the temple at 12.50 pm and went to the government guest house. He had lunch there and left for the airport after resting for about an hour.

The President reached Madurai Airport at 2.20 pm and left for Coimbatore by private flight at 2.35 pm.

Draupadi Muruk, who came to Tamil Nadu for the first time after taking over as the President, was met at the Madurai Airport by Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Ravi, Minister of Information Technology. Mano Thangaraj, Madurai District Collector S. Anish Sek, Municipal Corporation Mayor V. Indrani and Municipal Corporation Commissioner Simranjeet Singh welcomed her with bouquets. At the temple gate, Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Ravi’s wife Letsumi welcomed Ravi with a bouquet.

A large number of people had gathered at Madurai South Avani Moola Road area to see the President who was driving from the Madurai Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple to the Government Guest House. Seeing this, the President stopped his car there, got down and shook hands with a girl in the crowd. Then, he waved goodbye to the others.

On the occasion of the President’s visit, traffic was blocked in various parts of Madurai and vehicles were diverted. Around 3,000 policemen were involved in the security work under the leadership of Municipal Police Commissioner Narendran Nai and Head of South Zone Police Department Asra Garg.
