New York Yankees baseball franchise president Randy Levine has joined AC Milan’s board of directors, the defending Italian Serie A champion announced on Saturday.

The arrival of Levine within the management board of the Italian club is a new step in the partnership between the American franchise of Major League Baseball (MLB) and the seven-time winner of the Champions League.

The baseball franchise has owned a minority stake in AC Milan since the club was bought out last August by American investment fund Redbird.

Levine arrived in 2000 at the head of the Yankees, who have since won a World Series in 2009.

AC Milan, who won their 19th Italian league title last year, their first since 2011, are currently second in Serie A, nine points behind leaders Napoli ahead of their trip to Lazio on Tuesday.
