Year after year: the State Cup sweepstakes in basketball

Hapoel Jerusalem won the state basketball cup last night (Thursday) after 61:67 over Maccabi Tel Aviv, and celebrated the seventh cup in its history. The lifting of the cup by the Reds made us remember the previous lifting of the winners in recent years, from Bnei Herzliya through Maccabi Tel Aviv to Hapoel Holon.

One of the interesting things about Hapoel Jerusalem’s cup picture is who did not enter the picture, the country’s President Yitzhak Herzog and Minister of Culture and Sports Miki Zohar. In recent years, there have been complaints from fans about the entry of the president of the country and the various ministers of culture and sports into the photos, instead of a moment that would belong only to the team that rose to status.
