All up Whatsapp
WhatsApp announced this Thursday (03) two status changes (similar to Instagram stories). What’s new is: you can now like statuses and tag contacts privately. You will also be able to reshare statuses with tags.
“These features are starting to roll out and will soon be available globally to users,” WhatsApp said. And the company added: “We will be bringing more features to the Status and Updates tab in the coming months.”
How WhatsApp status likes and tags will work
As for likes, there is no mystery. A small heart will appear next to the text box where you can reply to statuses. To like, just press the little icon, exactly like you do (probably) in Instagram stories.
- Important detail: Status likes are private and don’t have a counter, so only the person whose status you liked can see them.
As for nominations, a company spokesperson said the following: “People can now mention up to five friends [leia-se: contatos] without anyone knowing that someone has been tagged. Those who have been mentioned will be able to repost [a publicação]”.
- Important detail: People you mention will receive a private notification and the mention will not appear in your status, per policy explained on the WhatsApp blog.

WhatsApp launched filters and wallpapers for video calls on Tuesday 1st. In total, according to a press release, the user can choose from ten options for each (more on that later in this note). And you can use filters and backgrounds at the same time.
The new feature arrives for both individual and group video calls on WhatsApp. And “they will be made available to everyone in the coming weeks”, the company says.
