Greco-Roman U20 wrestlers won 1 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze medals at the World Youth Wrestling Championship held in Amman, the capital of Jordan.

In the team calculation, Armenian wrestlers took third place.

60 kg Suren Aghajanyan was awarded the title of the winner of the Youth National Championship, gaining a 13-4 advantage over the representative of India in the final. Prior to that, Aghajanyan played 4 matches, winning a total of 32-0.

The other representative of Armenia, 67 kg Gaspar Terteryan, reached the finals after winning 4 victories, in which he competed with Egypt’s Mustafa Hossein Fatty Alameldini and lost 2-4 to his rival, winning the silver medal of the Youth National Championship.

87 kg Vigen Nazaryan became the bronze medalist of the Armenian team. In a decisive wrestling match, he scored a 7-0 victory over the American John Walker. Nazaryan gained a 9-1 advantage over Japanese Daisae Isoe in the opening match, then defeated the representative of Kazakhstan 3-1 and entered the semi-finals. In the semi-finals, Nazaryan already lost to the representative of Iran, Abolfazl Ali Choubani, with an even score (1-1).

Among the representatives of Armenia, Ruben Gevorgyan (82 kg) and Arshak Geghamyan (97 kg) were also close to winning a medal, but they lost in the fight for the bronze medal.

Earlier, the Armenian U20 freestyle wrestling team won 1 bronze medal at the Youth National Championship. 57 kg Edik Harutyunyan won the only medal in the freestyle team, winning 8-4 over Azeri Ruslan Abdulaev in the decisive wrestling match.
