Our youth basketball team continues its third internal training camp in Al-Karkh Hall in preparation for the launch of the West Asia Under-18 Championship for the period from the eleventh to the fifteenth of this month with the participation of 6 teams: (Iraq, Lebanon, Iran, Palestine, Jordan, and Yemen).
The coach of our Tunisian national team, Maher Khanfir, said in a statement to the newspaper (Al-Sabah), which was followed by the (INA): “The training of our youth team has become intensive, with two morning and evening units, to raise the level of technical and physical readiness of the players and increase the tactical and mental harmony between everyone when implementing the various duties that are part of the training program prepared for the West Asian Championship, whose competitions are hosted by the People’s Hall for Sports Games.”
He added, “The morning training session included offensive and defensive tactics with a focus on applying tactical vocabulary, while the evening session included playing between team members and raising scoring percentages from inside and outside the arc in addition to executing a foul shot.”
He saw that “the youth draw shows high competition, especially with Iran alongside Yemen in the second group, and that our Lions have great chances of reaching the golden square, while the first group includes (Lebanon, Jordan and Palestine), renewing his great confidence in the abilities of our players to shine in the Asian championship, present distinguished levels and achieve positive results.”
He stressed that “the game federation strongly supports the national team’s progress, as it provided all the requirements that would ensure the success of its participation, which would contribute to enhancing the reputation of our sport internally and externally, in addition to the honorable appearance in the competition and striving to achieve distinguished results worthy of the name of Iraq.”
