Jatiya Party Supports Interim Government, Outlines Reforms

The Secretary General of the Jatiya Party, Mujibul Haque Chunnu, expressed full support for the interim government. He urged them to hold elections after completing necessary reforms.
Chunnu highlighted several key areas for attention:
Restoring law and order: He emphasized the need to address public safety concerns and compensate families of those martyred during the movement. Additionally, he called for accountability for police station robberies and killings.
Economic recovery: He stressed the importance of boosting remittance flows, prioritizing export trade, attracting foreign investment, and supporting freelancers.
Institutional reforms: He proposed reforms to the election system, including proportional representation and increased autonomy for institutions like the Election Commission, Anti-Corruption Commission, and Public Service Commission.
Judiciary reform: He advocated for a complete separation of the Judiciary and the appointment of judges to the High Courts.
* Power balance: He argued for reducing the Prime Minister’s unchecked power and establishing a balance of power between the President and Parliament.
The meeting was attended by several Jatiya Party presidium members.
