Zelenski has participated via videoconference in an act in London in which he has valued that the presence of Scholz in the Ukrainian capital it would mean a “very important political step” for the German chancellor.
Before Scholz’s possible visit, it will be the German Foreign Minister, Annalena Baerbock, who will travel to the Ukrainian capital, after several weeks in which both countries have starred in a new episode of reproachesespecially from the Ukrainian side, which once again reproached Germany for its supposed closeness to Moscow and its lack of support for kyiv.
In mid-April, German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier canceled a planned trip with his Baltic counterparts after criticism from the Ukrainian ambassador in Berlin, Andrij Melnik, who he reproached him for his “political proximity” to the Kremlin, as well as the “too many vested interests” of Germany.
