United Kingdom – Volodymyr Zelensky’s trip to the United Kingdom, the Ukrainian president landed this morning in London, as part of a surprise visit to the country. Zelensky has already met British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and is scheduled to meet with King Charles III.
It is the second trip abroad, since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, on February 24, 2022. The Ukrainian president hopes with this trip to put pressure on London in a new promise to deliver weapons.
On the agenda, Volodymyr Zelensky has a meeting scheduled with Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, with Ukrainian soldiers in training in the United Kingdom and should address the House of Commons.
The Ukrainian head of state will also be received by King Charles III, according to a spokesman for Buckingham Palace.
“The United Kingdom was one of the first countries to help Ukraine. And today, I’m in London to personally thank the British people for their support and Prime Minister Rishi Sunak for his leadership.”, declared on social networks Volodymyr Zelensky. Downing Street reinforced, this Wednesday, the sanctions against the Russian defense sector, the announcement of the British government coincided with the surprise visit to the country of the president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky.
The new sanctions include “six suppliers of military equipment, such as drones, for the Russian invasion of Ukraine”, “eight people and one entity linked to financial networks” close to the Kremlin will also see their assets frozen.
Since the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine nearly a year ago, the UK has sanctioned over 1,300 Russian people and entities.
