Marco Rossi’s team is already preparing with great strength for the summer European Championship, and in the spirit of this, they have scheduled two preparatory matches for the national team break in March. On Friday, the Szoboszlais hosted Turkey, that meeting brought few chances and a balanced game, the Hungarians won 1-0, the team captain, Dominik Szoboszlai, scored the goal from the penalty spot. With this success, the Hungarian national team is undefeated in 13 matches.
Against Kosovo on Tuesday, our team was clearly considered a contender, although the guests promised before the match that they would surprise the Hungarians. Marco Rossi made quite a few changes in the starting team, Puskás Academy player Zsolt Nagy was included, as well as Dibusz, Ádám, Styles, Bolla, Gazdag and Dárdai. Szoboszlai was the only one in the attacking line again, Sallai was out due to a minor injury.
The red-white-green team acted offensively, but the passes and free kicks were not accurate. The first serious situation came in front of the Kosovars, Zhegrova rolled it over from 16 meters, the ball just missed the top corner. Rashica was also in danger a few minutes later, although as it turned out, her shot from the side barely missed the post. There was a field game on the pitch, the visitors had more of the ball, the Hungarians’ attacking game was stuttering from the moment the ball was brought out. Zsolt Nagy faltered well past the halfway point of the half. Before the break, the Hungarian national team came a little higher, but they did not manage to get into a really great situation.
Marco Rossi couldn’t be satisfied with what he saw either, he updated his team in three places during the break. The home team got into a position almost immediately, Bolla was able to shoot from 16 meters, and he was able to maneuver over Muric. In the 58th minute, the Hungarian national team took the lead, after receiving the ball, Schäfer broke into the penalty area, Szoboszlai cut the ball back from the baseline, the ball bounced off a defender and ended up in the bottom left corner, 1-0. Ours started, Styles and Nagy forced each other, the former shot over 18 meters. A little later, Nagy was again the driving force of the Hungarian action, this time Varga was the “playing partner”, the Felscúti shot at him, Muric saved Nagy. Compared to the first half, Hungary played much more stable, Kosovo was not able to get to Dibus. After a few uneventful minutes, in the 78th minute, Szoboszlai was able to take a free kick slightly from the side, from about 18 meters, Muric confidently swallowed the ball. In the 85th minute, all questions were resolved, after a vigorous Hungarian action, Lang’s cross found Zsolt Nagy, who was coming alone from long distance, and the Puskás Academy player calmly shot into the goal from seven meters, 2-0. In the continuation, Szoboszlai’s free kick went his way, thanks to the good play of the Hungarian national football team in the second half, they won 2-0 against Kosovo, Marco Rossi’s team is now undefeated in 14 matches.
