Not many batsmen in world cricket would have even dreamed of such a performance. But a twenty-three-year-old Punjabi boy named Subhman Gill has made it a reality.
In the 49th over, Gill hit the first ball over fine leg, the second over long off and the third over the bowler’s head towards the sight screen to complete his double century. After his century against Lanka in Thiruvananthapuram, he scored a double century in the next match and it can be confirmed that Gill will be captain Rohit Sharma’s opening pair in this World Cup year.
Most of India’s score was 208 runs scored by Gill in 149 balls on a pitch where the batting was not so easy. The next highest score was Rohit’s 34 runs. All the top players struggled to score, but Gill stepped up with a variety of strokes including backfoot punches, extra cover drives and short arm jabs.

Gill completed his half-century in 52 balls and completed his century in 87 balls. He completed his second ODI century with a six followed by a single at a personal score of 93. The player who completed 150 runs in the 122nd ball also crossed the magic number of 200 runs in the 145th ball.
