Ο Αντρέας καταλαβαίνει ότι έχει μόνο μια ευκαιρία να σώσει τη μέθοδό του και το τμήμα του: να αντιμετωπίσει μια δύσκολη πορεία ιατρικών και ψυχολογικών δοκιμασιών που θα του επιτρέψουν να ανακτήσει τον πραγματικό του ρόλο. Να επιστρέψει στην Παθολογική Κλινική ως διευθυντής.
Αυτό σημαίνει ότι πρέπει να ανακτήσει όλη την πρόοδο που έχει σημειώσει η ιατρική επιστήμη τα τελευταία δώδεκα χρόνια,αλλά επιπροσθέτως πρέπει να βρει τρόπο να αντιμετωπίσει το σύνδρομο του προμετωπιαίου λοβού,το οποίο του προέκυψε μετά τον πυροβολισμό του και το οποίο τον βάζει σε μια κατάσταση να λέει ό,τι του περνάει από το μυαλό,χωρίς φίλτρα: μια πολυτέλεια που ένας διευθυντής δεν μπορεί να έχει.
