Naftogaz Ukrainy has filed a complaint with the European Commission about Russia’s Gazprom’s abuse of its dominant position in the European gas market. Naftogaz is requesting immediate measures to normalize the situation.

“Gazprom’s actions are anti-competitive and have entailed significant negative consequences for all European consumers. Naftogaz, as one of the largest gas buyers in Europe, also suffers losses due to these abuses. The Ukrainian side asks the European Commission to oblige Gazprom to put up significant volumes of gas for its supply on the Ukrainian-Russian border or on the EU-Ukraine border at electronic auctions. The company believes that in this case, Gazprom’s clients will be able to buy gas, including at the Russian-Ukrainian border for further independent booking of gas transmission system capacities and transportation to Europe or pumping gas into Ukrainian underground storage facilities.

In addition, Naftogaz believes that Gazprom is blocking the export of Russian gas from private companies, as well as the transit of this fuel from Central Asian countries to Europe.
