Tel Aviv: As the conflict between Israel and Palestine escalates, 17 Indian nationals have found themselves trapped in the Palestinian borders. Among them, four are currently stuck in Gaza, the region heavily affected by the ongoing war with Hamas. The Representative Office of India (ROI) informed Onmanorama, the English version of Manorama Online, that the remaining 13 individuals are stranded in the West Bank.
The ROI revealed that none of the individuals trapped in Gaza are Malayalis, and only one person in Gaza has managed to reach out for assistance so far. In response to the situation, the ROI assured that all efforts are being made to provide assistance to the trapped Indian nationals.
Even before the conflict intensified, the ROI had advised Indian citizens in both Israel and Palestine to take necessary security precautions.
Amidst the escalating Israel-Hamas conflict, reports indicate that Israel’s ground war against Hamas could commence at any moment. It is estimated that hundreds of thousands of Israeli soldiers have amassed along the Gaza border. The death toll has already surpassed 3,900 on both sides, with Israel reporting a death toll of 1,200, mostly comprised of civilian casualties. Over 2,700 people have been injured in the conflict, and more than 900 people have lost their lives due to Israeli airstrikes in Gaza. In the early hours of Saturday morning, armed Hamas militants breached the heavily fortified Gaza-Israel border fence, leading to clashes and the infiltration of southern Israeli towns.
As the international community strives for a peaceful resolution to the conflict, the focus remains on the safety and well-being of all individuals, including the 17 Indian nationals trapped in the Palestinian territories. The ROI and other diplomatic channels continue to work towards providing necessary assistance and ensuring the safe return of the stranded Indians.
