This time Diwali falls on Monday and the preceding Saturday and Sunday are holidays, so the number of travelers going to their hometowns is likely to increase.
16,000 special buses are being operated from various parts of Tamil Nadu for Diwali. According to this, as of 3 pm on Saturday, 1,065 buses and 407 special buses have been operated from Chennai out of 2,100 regular buses. According to the transport department, 2 lakh 43,299 passengers have traveled to their hometowns in 4,772 buses from last Friday to Saturday afternoon.
