Sports experts have opined that this is India’s best performance in the Commonwealth Games in which India has participated so far. In 2010 Commonwealth Games held in Delhi, India won 101 medals and finished 2nd.
These include 30 medals in shooting, 8 medals in archery, 7 medals in Greco-Roman wrestling and 4 medals in tennis. However, none of these matches took place in the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
But this time, the Indian team has won medals in various competitions like Badminton, Table Tennis, Squash and Hockey.
In table tennis alone, Indian player Sarath Kamal has won 4 medals this time. Similarly, for the first time in the Commonwealth Games, India has won gold in the badminton singles category. PV Sindhu won gold in women’s singles and Laxaya Chen won gold in men’s singles. Similarly, the Indian team has won medals in cricket and judo, which did not get a place in the 2010 Commonwealth Games.
