The post of head coach of the Pakistan national team has been vacant for a long time. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has reached out to former Australian cricketer Shane Watson for the post. The former Auji star has been offered US$ 2 million (Bangladesh 22 crores) a year by Pakistan cricket’s apex body.

According to the Express Tribune, PCB has offered Watson $2 million. Meanwhile, a PCB source told PTI that the former Australian player has demanded US$ 2 million. However, if the two sides agree, Watson will be the most expensive coach in Pakistan’s cricket history.

However, whether Watson will agree to such a large salary or not, there is confusion. It is heard that this former Australian cricketer may reject PCB’s offer. In that case PCB can approach Darren Sammy or Mike Hesson. Both Hesson and Sammy are serving as coaches in the PSL.

Watson is taking time to finalize the decision mainly because of the frequent changes between the PCB and the coaching staff. According to Geo Super, a source close to Watson has said that he has rejected the coach’s offer. Because, he is not willing to stay away from his family for a long time.

Grant Bradburn was sacked by the PCB after the World Cup last November. Since then the post of head coach of Pakistan team is vacant. Mohammad Hafeez worked as an interim coach during the tour of Australia and New Zealand. However, Hafeez was relieved of all duties by the PCB last month.
