A 28-year-old woman is accused of impersonating a 17-year-old student at a school in Louisiana, using a fake passport and birth certificate.
Martha Jessenia Gutierrez-Serrano and her mother Marta Elizeth Serrano-Alvardo were arrested on Tuesday and charged with using false public documents, according to local authorities in St. Charles Parish, Louisiana.
It was on May 29 that the Hahnville school alerted the police, when they had suspicions about a student in the year 2022 to 2023 who largely resembled an adult, according to information from NBC News.
Indeed, Martha was pretending to be a 17-year-old girl, when she was 28. She had in her possession a false passport and a false birth certificate.
The school said in a statement obtained by NBC that management will take steps for future enrollments to ensure documentation is compliant.
The investigation is ongoing, the local authorities still do not know the reasons behind the action of the two women.
