4 drowning cases in two days: a baby in critical condition in Safed

Emergency medicine medic at MDA Yair Levy said: “We were led to a baby who was unconscious after being pulled from the pool while he was unconscious. We immediately began to perform advanced resuscitation operations on him that included massages and breathing, we put him in the intensive care vehicle and quickly evacuated him to the hospital while continuing to perform resuscitation operations when his condition is critical.”

The hospital later informed that the toddler’s pulse returned, who is now being transferred to the pediatric intensive care unit. According to their statement, this is a family from Kiryat Yearim and the social team of the medical center is accompanying them.

This is the second drowning incident today, when earlier an 82-year-old woman was fatally injured after she apparently drowned at Sironit Beach in Netanya, and was pulled from the water without a pulse or breathing. MDA paramedics who were called to the scene gave her medical treatment and referred her to Laniado Hospital while performing CPR.

We immediately continued to perform advanced resuscitation operations on her that included massages and breathing, we put her in the intensive care vehicle and evacuated her to the hospital while continuing to perform resuscitation operations as her condition is critical.”

Shimon Sabah, a rescue medic who performed CPR on her, said: “We performed CPR on the lady who was pulled from the water by the rescuers without a pulse or breathing. After that, she was taken in an intensive care van to the Laniado hospital while continuing resuscitation operations in a critical condition.”

The fourth drowning event in two days

This is the fourth drowning event that has occurred in Israel in the last two days. Last night two drowning cases were recorded within an hour across the country, with a woman seriously injured in each of the incidents.

First, it was reported that a 60-year-old woman was pulled from a pool in Moshav Misher, and was transferred to the hospital for further medical treatment. Naftali Baglitar, a rescue medic who arrived at the scene, said: “Her family members told us that they pulled her out of the water after she drowned in the pool in the yard. Her condition at this stage is classified as serious.”

At the same time, a 76-year-old woman was seriously injured after drowning in a private pool in Moshav in the Gedrot Regional Council. MDA medics and paramedics gave her initial medical care, and evacuated her to Kaplan Hospital while she was sedated and ventilated.
