by time news

Fifth passage in force of the government, fifth motion of censure rejected for LFI. The Insoumis did not manage, this Friday, to have their motion of censure voted after the use of 49.3, Wednesday evening, by the government, to pass the revenue part of the 2023 Social Security draft budget. 85 deputies voted for the motion of censure, when 289 were needed for it to lead to the dismissal of the government.

“We cannot perpetually replay debates which have already been decided”, justified Élisabeth Borne in the hemicycle by drawing a 49.3 for the fifth time in almost a month. “This umpteenth passage in force is unacceptable”, had criticized in front of the press the leader of the rebellious deputies Mathilde Panot, immediately announcing the filing of a motion of censure.

Without the RN, to avoid “trivialization”

After having supported four motions of censure from the left, the group of RN deputies announced on Tuesday that it would not vote for the new LFI motion against the government and its Social Security budget, to avoid “trivialization”.

“We are not filing a motion of censure for this reason. And then, it doesn’t make too much sense, 49.3 had been used in the first reading, it’s normal that there is one for the future, ”Marine Le Pen also indicated.

The failure of this motion of censure comes the day after a stormy parliamentary session. By suspending sessions and amendments, the presidential camp prevented the vote on Thursday on an LFI text for the reintegration of caregivers not vaccinated against Covid-19.
