Indian swimmers Mihir Ambre won the 50m butterfly and Anish Gowda won the 800m freestyle, with the Indians winning three golds on the first day of the Commonwealth Games.

Siva Sridhar crossed the finish line in 57.58 seconds in the 100m backstroke and finished third, with the Indian swimmers winning three gold, one silver and one bronze in a single day.

Nataraj, the youngest Indian swimmer to reach Olympic standard time, made a strong start in the 100m backstroke with a time of 55.32 seconds to win gold.

In the women’s 100m backstroke, Mana won the silver medal with a time of 1: 04.47. Umbrey won the 50m butterfly with a personal best time of 24.66 seconds, while Gowda clocked 8: 14.08 in the 800m freestyle.
