The Arquiteta Zuleide Simabuco Higa Multipurpose Center, located on the corner of Rua do Poeta de Barros and Rua Gardênia, in Parque dos Poderes, in Campo Grande, has aroused curiosity and questions among visitors to the region. Although it was completed in December 2022, the space remains closed with a zebra stripe and no opening forecast.
Despite having a playground for children, an outdoor gym, drinking fountains, benches and restrooms, those who pass by also do not have clear information about its purpose. The employee of a kiosk close to the site, Scelder Inácio, 18, reports that many people who pass by the space approach him asking about its usefulness. “People who walk around the place always ask me why the place is closed and unused. But I don’t know how to say it either”, says Inácio.
Aline Fardin Ribeiro, 30 years old, administrative assistant, and Cleyton Fistarol, 38 years old, pastry chef, are a couple who regularly walk through Parque dos Poderes. Both also expressed ignorance about the purpose of the space.
For the administrative assistant, the delay in inauguration can end up being harmful to the place itself. “The space is beautiful. It has toys for the children, but as it is exposed to the sun, the toys will wear out and will need to be renovated”, questions Aline.
Cleiton also points out that the place has a bathroom, but it is closed, which ends up causing inconvenience for visitors who need to use it during their activities in the park. “Sometimes we walk and need to go to the bathroom. The place has a bathroom, but it’s not open”, he explains.
Management – The report contacted Seilog (Mato Grosso do Sul State Secretariat for Infrastructure and Logistics) to clarify the situation and obtain information about the future of the site. However, as of this writing, no response has been received. The space remains open for future clarifications from the secretariat.
