Since the attack in May, around 700,000 euros in donations have been collected.
The money went to the accounts of the Association for the Promotion of Fire Protection in Ratingen and the Police Foundation David and Goliath. An ethics committee of both clubs has now decided on the distribution of the donations: The Ratinger fire brigade reports that it should be based on the type, degree and severity of the injuries. The nine rescue workers, some of whom were seriously injured, are on the mend. Nevertheless, due to the nature of the injuries, they still have a long and difficult healing process ahead of them, according to the Ratingen fire brigade.
