| Queensway Tunnel northbound | Around 14 minutes | 5mph |
Hunter Street reopened later in the morning at around 8:50am, with regional traffic congestion gradually easing after 9am.
Merseytravel reported that local bus services, including the 26 and 53 routes heading out of the city centre, faced diversions via St Johns Lane, Lime Street, London Road, and Norton Street to St Anne Street. Traffic delays also backed up along Scotland Road and stretched back through the Wallasey Tunnel and onto the M53.
