The 9,000-year-old church was discovered in the eastern desert of Jordan. The church is believed to date back to the Neolithic Age and was discovered by a team of Jordanian-French archaeologists. The shrine is located near a large structure known as the ‘Desert Kite House’.

The researchers said the structure marked the cultural, economic and symbolic life of the people who lived here. The team included archaeologists from Al Hussein bin Talal University in Jordan and the French Institute of Near East.
