The largest writers’ association in Russia has changed its name

The day before the New Year, the Association led by Sergei Shargunov showed new papers from the Ministry of Justice

On December 30, the Association of Writers and Publishers received a new registration certificate from the Ministry of Justice. Now its name contains the word “Russia”, which emphasizes the special status of the integration writers’ association. Which includes, as we remember, members of the Union of Russian Writers, the Union of Writers of Russia, the Moscow Union of Writers, the Saint Petersburg Union of Writers and the Russian Book Union – that is, most of the authors of modern Russian literature.

State Duma deputy, writer Sergei Shargunov told MK that ASPIR had been registered since the beginning of its activity, that is, since December 2020, but the name “Russia” was added only now:

– This is not an easy task, not every organization can have the word “Russia” in its name. And our Association is really trying to collect and present writers’ and publishers’ Russia, and readers’ Russia too, taking into account all the diversity.

Note that the “headquarters” of ASPIR is the Rostov House on the street. Povarskaya in Moscow, where in the last century the Federation of Soviet Writers’ Associations was located, and then the Board of the Writers’ Union of the USSR.
