Exercising its right of reply within the framework of the work of the 52nd session of the Human Rights Council, the Moroccan delegation highlighted the crude political nature of a declaration made by an isolated group of countries at the request of the ‘Algeria.
If there is a lesson to be learned from this politically motivated approach, it is that the representative of the Algerian regime obviously does not wish to change his temperament even though his country is today a member of the Human Rights Council. Homme, noted the delegation, noting that Algeria continues to give all its attention to purely political aims, which “divide and serve to create futile and useless controversy”.
And to emphasize that the statement instigated by the representative of the Algerian regime is a web of lies, with a truncated and false reading of Security Council resolutions, which Algeria refuses to implement, as the party primarily involved in the creation and maintenance of the regional dispute over the Sahara.
Only the Algerian delegation among more than 150 raises this subject, thus revealing to the international community its unacknowledged intentions and its duplicity which no longer deceive anyone, indicated the Moroccan delegation, wondering how a country newly member of the Human Rights Council from the start of his mandate, to dissolve the Algerian League for the Defense of Human Rights, without his knowledge, and even in the absence of a trial.
The Moroccan delegation affirmed that the headlong rush and the fallacious and baseless allegations cannot conceal the shameful reality of the massive violations of human rights in Algeria, questioning the representative of the Algerian regime about two questions which reveal the true face of the country concerning aspects other than the art of propaganda which he masters.
How can peaceful protesters and political opposition bodies find themselves charged with crimes of terrorism, in 2023? wondered the Moroccan delegation about the new law broadening the definition of the crime of terrorism in the Penal Code. And the delegation wondered: “How can Algeria explain the systematic expulsion from its territory of our sub-Saharan migrant brothers, following forced arrests, contrary to all the principles and conventions on the protection of human rights? of migrant man?
Finally, the Moroccan delegation invited its Algerian counterpart to abandon any tactic that aims to manipulate and invest more in the work of the Council, in order to fully fulfill its role as a member, instead of making the Kingdom of Morocco its only item on the agenda.
