The Support Commission for the Organization of Film Festivals and Events has announced that it has awarded grants totaling 5.7 million dirhams for the benefit of 15 festivals and events.

In a press release, the Moroccan Cinematographic Center (CCM) indicated that the commission examined at the end of its meetings, held on April 10 and 11 in Rabat, 22 requests for support and had received the organizers of festivals and cinematographic events which have exposed and defended their projects.

The International Festival of African Cinema in Khouribga in its 23rd edition came first among the events benefiting from Commission support, monopolizing 1,400,000 dirhams, followed by the International Festival of Mediterranean Cinema in Tetouan in its 28th edition (1,300 .000 dirhams) and the International Documentary Film Festival in Agadir in its 14th edition which received a grant worth 700,000 dirhams, specifies the same source.

The International Film Festival of Dakhla in its 11th edition obtained, for its part, the sum of 650,000 dirhams, the International Festival of Animation Cinema of Meknes in its 21st edition received 600,000 dirhams and the International Festival of Independent Cinema of Casablanca in its second edition, meanwhile, obtained 200,000 dirhams.

The Assa International Film and Sahara Festival in its 11th edition and the Casablanca Arab Film Festival in its fourth edition, each received 150,000 dirhams, the statement added.

The commission also decided to allocate the amount of 100,000 dirhams to the Souss International Short Film Festival in Aït Melloul in its 15th edition, to the “Camera Kids” Festival in its 7th edition, to the International Festival of Environmental Films in Chefchaouen in its 12th edition and at the Rabat-Comedy International Film Festival in its fourth edition.

The rest of this envelope (50,000 dirhams) was divided between the Isouraf Forum of the 7th art in Agadir for its 10th edition and the Regional Forum for Educational Short Films/Benslimane for its fifth edition.

Chaired by Khadija Alami Laaroussi, this meeting took place in the presence of Leïla Triki, ShanazElAkrichi, FatimaZahra Mouhim, Mourad Latifi, Driss El Kri, Mohamed Fadel El Joumani and Hicham Ibrahimi.
