US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said the country was ready to negotiate with Russia on security in Europe, TASS reports.

“We have had a dialogue with Russia on European security over the past 20 years. We can make progress in some areas, and we just have to disagree in other areas, ”Sullivan said at a seminar at the Council on Foreign Relations.

The presidential adviser believes that “the essence of dialogue” lies in successes and failures. He also added that the US strategy is to closely coordinate with allies, ensure unity, and then “be ready to sit down at the negotiating table with Russia.”

Earlier, White House press secretary Jen Psaki said that the United States got acquainted with the Russian proposals and is currently discussing them with European allies, without which “there will be no talks on European security.”

On December 17, the Russian Foreign Ministry published a draft treaty with the United States and an agreement with the NATO military alliance on guarantees and security. In particular, the documents imply a refusal to deploy medium and shorter-range ground-based missiles outside its territory and a refusal to expand the NATO military bloc to the east.
