Svetlana Loboda: translating your songs into Ukrainian is stupid
Singer Svetlana Loboda, who left after the start of the Russian special operation in Ukraine, said that it was very stupid to translate her songs in Russian into Ukrainian, because many listeners would not understand her. She told about this in an interview with Deutsche Welle (included by the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation in the register of media-foreign agents).
“I have fans that I can’t betray, I can’t give up everything that I did before with my songs. I can’t translate them into Ukrainian. I think this is absolutely stupid and wrong, ”said Loboda.
She added that she gained her popularity not only in Ukraine, but also abroad, in the countries of the former USSR, where many people speak Russian and understand it.
At the same time, Loboda emphasized that when she goes to an interview with the Ukrainian media, she speaks Ukrainian, and while in the country she also prefers to speak it.
