Souleymane Koné ranks second in the first stage

Burkina Faso is off to a good start in the international cycling tour of Benin. On the occasion of the first stage disputed on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, Burkinabe cyclist Souleymane Koné came second in the standings ahead of Cameroonian Clovis Abossolo Kamzong (third).

Souleymane Koné is overtaken in the sprint by the Moroccan Achraf Ed-Doghhy with two seconds. Paul Daumont, victim of a puncture during this race, arrived in the standings 26 seconds behind the winner of the stage. Moucaila Rawendé ranks 7^e. There are therefore three Burkinabè in the top 10 of this first stage.

This first stage was run between Parakou and Djougou over a distance of 132.53 km. The Tour of Benin, which takes place over six stages, ends on Sunday May 7, 2023.
