A new era in the best team in the world. After a long period of being in the air, Steve Kerr was announced today (Monday) as the coach of the United States national basketball team. The Golden State Warriors coach, who is considered one of the most esteemed professionals in the industry, will replace Greg Popovich as the new coach of the Dream Team.
The coach will coach the team at the Paris 2024 Olympics and his assistants will be Phoenix Suns coach Monty Williams and Miami Heat coach Eric Spolstra, who was himself mentioned as a candidate for the prestigious position.
Kerr won the gold medal with the team in Tokyo when he was Popovich’s assistant as well as a player who won the 1986 World Cup with her. As a Golden State coach he has won the NBA Championship three times and even in 2016 received the title of Coach of the Year in the league. Kerr recorded a tremendous career as a player that included 5 championships, three in the Chicago uniform, one in the San Antonio uniform immediately after leaving the Bulls and another in the Spurs uniform.
