It is for the 4th consecutive year that the Agency for Financing and Promotion of Small and Medium Enterprises (AFP-PME) celebrates the World Day of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.

« This day, dedicated to the SMEs that we organize, is proof of our commitment alongside entrepreneurs, business project leaders, to work together to develop our economy. It is part of a set of actions that we carry out on a daily basis to support entrepreneurs and project leaders. “Said Sylvie Coulibaly, Director of Legal Affairs and Litigation of AFP-PME, representing the Director General and President of the Organizing Committee.

“Transformation of local economies: roles and resilience strategies of Burkinabè SMEs in a context of security and economic crises is the theme chosen for this 4th celebration in Burkina Faso. According to Sylvie Coulibaly, the choice of this theme is evocative because it makes it possible to question the threats and opportunities for SMEs.

Today’s event was chaired by Minister of Industrial Development, Trade, Crafts and SMEs Serge Poda, who was represented by the Secretary General of his department, Fidèle Ilboudo.

For him, the main objective of this day is to sensitize public opinion on the importance of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises in achieving the objectives of sustainable development on the one hand and on the other hand, to constitute a forum of reflection on the challenges to be met and the prospects for the growth of MSMEs. It is also an opportunity to recognize the impact of MSMEs and celebrate the women and men who create and lead them.

« MSMEs are par excellence one of the pillars of the more inclusive and sustainable economic development of our economies. Their contribution is very appreciable in the development and transformation of local raw materials through the creation of the added value necessary for better positioning on national and international markets. In Burkina Faso, MSMEs constitute more than 90% of the economic fabric with a contribution to the formation of GDP in the order of 40% “, he developed further.

Through panels, this day will be used to reflect on the constraints faced by the actors and to make concrete proposals for a better contribution of SMEs to the local economy.

The major innovation of this edition was the organization of a competition called ” Let’s dare its financing ». Out of 57 applications, the 3 best were awarded, in addition to the best women’s project and the best youth project.

As a reminder, the World Day of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises was instituted by the General Assembly of the United Nations on April 6, 2017. It is celebrated on June 27 of each year.
