With the technical and financial support of UNICEF, the Permanent Secretariat of Non-Governmental Organizations (SPONG) held a workshop for the restitution and validation of the reference situation within the framework of the “community watch for the improvement access of vulnerable groups to health services”. As part of the “community watch to improve vulnerable groups’ access to health services” project, the Permanent Secretariat of Non-Governmental Organizations (SPONG) carried out a study aimed at making an inventory of the conditions of accessibility of vulnerable groups to health services in 31 communes in the health districts of Kaya, Boussouma, Fada, Tenkodogo, Manga, Pô, Koudougou, Ziniaré and Zorgho.

« The main objective of the study carried out by SPONG is to refine the intervention strategy of the project and above all to have an idea of ​​the contextual situation of the access of the most vulnerable groups to health services at the level of each commune. intervention; in particular the coverage and quality of essential packages of health services at the community and institutional level in the targeted communes », explained Dr Phillipe SOME, representing the President of the Board of Directors of SPONG.

The objectives of this workshop were to present the results of the study previously conducted to the stakeholders, collect their amendments and suggestions and finally, validate the provisional report of the study.

The study carried out by the SPONG will have the advantage of monitoring the health services offered to the community, but also of pinpointing the achievements and the bottlenecks hindering certain achievements in terms of health for the benefit of the vulnerable layers. in the municipalities concerned and to formulate response plans to remove these obstacles, to hear them.

« This inventory, in addition to the collection of data on dysfunctional systems in terms of access to health services carried out with vulnerable groups through the intermediary of health watch committees (CVS), will make it possible to organize meetings of advocacy and lobbying with decision-makers at local and national level to come up with proposed solutions for lifting the constraints and blockages observed in access to quality care said Dr. Phillipe Somé.
