As usual, the National Road Safety Office (ONASER) organizes road safety week every year. This year, ONASER has not departed from this tradition.
Indeed, the road safety week is held from August 7 to 13, 2023, in Bobo-Dioulasso. For Roland Somda, Minister of Transport, Urban Mobility and Road Safety, this initiative intends to federate the efforts of the central administration with those of all the stakeholders in the execution of actions to promote road safety.
To mark this edition with a white stone, several activities related to good traffic practices have been thought out, in particular the caravan on the wearing of helmets. An activity that makes perfect sense if we stick to the words of the director general of ONASER, Evariste Meda, who recalls that the number of accidents is high, and the statistics will not say the opposite.
« In 2021, we were at 25,000 accidents and 24,600 accidents in 2022. The vast majority of people who die as a result of accidents suffer head injuries “, lamented Evariste Meda.
Thus, the arteries of the city of Sya were furrowed in all its direction. Equipped with their helmets on their machines, caravanners praised the wearing of helmets, the highway code, and of course the appropriate behavior to adopt in traffic.
