Recognizing the key role and contribution of infrastructure in the country’s socio-economic development, the Government of Burkina Faso has “given priority to this sector, which drives the process of economic development and regional integration”.

To do this, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Opening Up has undertaken to organize the first edition of the “Africa Infrastructure Forum”, on infrastructure standards and financing, a pan-African event on infrastructure financing in Africa.

This forum will take place in Ouagadougou from August 31 to September 2, 2023 at the Ouaga 2000 International Conference Center on the theme “Investing in African infrastructure to impact the continental free trade area”.

The objective of the Africa Infrastructure Forum is to bring together all the stakeholders in infrastructure financing in Africa to discuss issues related to the sector, to forge partnerships and formulate solutions to the difficulties encountered », Informed Adama Luc Sorgho, Minister of Infrastructure and Opening Up.

Three days (03) during therefore, issues related to the Governance of infrastructures; infrastructure financing; best practices of public-private partnerships in the infrastructure sector; capacity building of infrastructure actors, will be discussed, among other things.

This Forum will bring together approximately one thousand (1000) guests, the stakeholders include the different categories of actors including representatives of the Governments of African countries, multilateral financing structures, cooperation agencies, regional and international organizations and apex organizations of the infrastructure actors. This initiative, which has already received the support and participation of Mali and Morocco, aims to integrate African infrastructures (cross-border and regional).

Specifically, it will be a matter of taking stock of infrastructure projects, their financing needs and establishing partnerships for their mobilization. The opportunity is given to rethink the infrastructural policy, because most constructions are European standards and are not adapted to sub-Saharan Africa, according to Adama Sorgho.
