Kochi: The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has decided to strictly enforce the government-mandated restrictions on test positivity rates in Kochi and Ernakulam districts above 30 for the third day in a row. The meeting noted that the formation of clusters in 11 centers, including educational institutions, should be taken seriously. Kovid will screen all those who come in with respiratory problems and fever. Vaccination will speed up. The meeting also decided to restore medical facilities similar to those during the second wave. The Kovid control room will be operational on Monday. Clusters are currently formed in 11 institutions, including government offices and professional colleges. The number of patients is expected to quadruple by the end of this month, health officials said.

At the same time, the number of patients coming to the hospital did not increase as much as last time. At present, there is no problem with the availability of beds, including the ICU, the health department said. Of the 2903 Kovid beds in private hospitals, 630 are currently undergoing treatment. Of the 524 Kovid beds in government hospitals, 214 have been admitted.

In view of the increasing number of people seeking treatment, the meeting suggested that domicile care centers be set up locally. Local bodies have to come forward for this. The operation of the Kovid treatment center with oxygen beds at the top of the temple will also be strengthened. The meeting decided to ensure the service of more ambulances. Domestic care centers should be set up at Fort Kochi, Muvattupuzha, Paravur, Kothamangalam and Tripunithura. The operation of the mobile testing unit, telemedicine and help desk will also be strengthened.

Kovid outpatient department will be started in taluk hospitals with triage system. The Department of Health recommends that patients without Kovid positive symptoms receive home quarantine. Those with more symptoms will be taken to Ambalams Kovid Care Center and to hospitals if required. The meeting also decided to ensure oxygen availability in the district.
