The President of the Transition, Head of State, Captain Ibrahim TRAORE received in audience the winner of the 34th Praemium Imperiale, the Burkinabè architect Diébédo Francis KERE. He came to present his medals to the Head of State, encourage him in his mission to reconquer the national territory and discuss with him about the Thomas-SANKARA Memorial for which he created the model.

“I came to encourage the Head of State in the great mission he carries for our entire Nation and I took the opportunity to present him with the Praemium Imperiale medal, considered the “Nobel of the arts” as well as the Pritzker that I received last year,” declared Francis KERE at the end of the hearing.
Captain Ibrahim TRAORE and his host returned, during the discussions, to the Thomas-SANKARA Memorial project. “It is a major project which, beyond magnifying President Thomas SANKARA, creates an urban park without parallel in all of Africa. It’s about creating a place where all Burkinabè and their friends can meet. They will discover all the policies and vision of President Thomas SANKARA,” he said.
According to Francis KERE, construction work on the mausoleum, an integral part of the Memorial, will begin very quickly as requested by the President of the Transition. He maintained that the Head of State told him how proud he was to see “a Burkinabè flying high the flag of the country abroad; and it is a great honor for me to hear these words from the Head of State about me.”
Captain Ibrahim TRAORE encouraged the architect to continue the dynamic of excellence. “I am very happy, because I found a committed leader despite the charges. We see that he is someone who is committed to fighting the scourge that is eroding our country,” concluded the architect.
