(Ouagadougou, October 27, 2023). The chief of staff of the Head of State, Captain Martha Céleste Anderson MEDAH, representing the President of the Transition, president of the National Council to Combat AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Infections (CNLS-IST), chaired this Friday morning the 20th ordinary session of the structure, which focused on several subjects linked to the fight against AIDS and STIs.

Examination of the status of implementation of the recommendations of the last ordinary session, examination and adoption of the assessment as of December 31, 2022 of the implementation of the 2022 Multisectoral National Plan and presentation of the financing request to the Global Fund HIV component were at the center of participants’ discussions.
Captain Martha Céleste Anderson MEDAH praised the “courtesy and spirit of frankness” which characterized the discussions during the work. “The discussions allowed us to take stock of our achievements in the operational field of prevention, care and treatment as well as support for people living with HIV and the governance of the national response to HIV,” indicated the chief of staff of the Head of State in his closing speech.
The work of this 20th ordinary session also made it possible, according to Captain MEDAH, to identify the shortcomings which prevented the achievement of the objectives in terms of screening, accessibility of people living with HIV to biological monitoring, particularly for viral load. .
He thanked national actors and technical and financial partners for their commitment to the government in this fight against the disease. During the work, the participants made several recommendations for better results in this fight initiated by the government and its partners.
The Permanent Secretary of the CNLS-IST, Dr Seydou OUATTARA praised the efforts made by the highest authorities in the fight against HIV/AIDS and STIs which made it possible to achieve encouraging results during the year 2022.
